Ciao, I'm Shanae
My interest in birth and breastfeeding began at the early age of 16. As part of Iona Presentation College's INSTEP West program, I completed 6 months of work experience at King Edward Memorial Hospital where I witnessed birth for the first time. This experience, along with growing up in the Fremantle area surrounded by my large Italian family, sparked a passion for all things birth and breastfeeding.
I continued on to university to study a Bachelor of Nursing. Upon graduating as a Registered Nurse I worked in Fiona Stanley Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for two years. I then completed a Graduate Diploma of Midwifery through the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle and gained my registration as a midwife. My passion for breastfeeding lead me to also register as a Lactation Consultant with the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants shortly after.
Today, I continue to work at Fiona Stanley Hospital as a Registered Nurse/ Midwife & IBCLC rotating through the antenatal, lactation and newborn hearing screening clinics, the postnatal ward, neonatal intensive care unit and I also participate in international lactation and midwifery research.
I'm a firm believer that knowledge is power and my wish is to empower all women on their journey from maiden to mother. "Bella Vita" translates to "a beautiful life". I am truly excited to work with and serve my beloved community by supporting women and their families, in preparing them to welcome their precious little one into the world, for a beautiful life.
